1、 Distinguish from the packaging:

These three kinds of masks have different technical standards. Disposable medical masks are (yy/t0969-2013), medical surgical masks are (yy0469-2011) and medical protective masks are (gb19038-2010). You can judge which kind of mask the product belongs to by looking at the executive standards marked on the outer package of the product. In addition, their names will be clearly written on the package.

2、 Different shapes of masks:

Disposable medical masks and medical surgical masks are rectangular in shape, including ear wearing type and bandage type. The vast majority of medical protective masks are duckbill shaped, which is easy to distinguish.

3、 Performance varies:

These three kinds of masks can filter bacteria, but they are different in water resistance and particle filtration efficiency. First of all, disposable medical masks have no performance requirements in terms of water resistance and particle filtration efficiency, while medical surgical masks and medical protective masks have requirements. Secondly, the waterproof performance of the medical surgical mask is higher than that of the medical protective mask, which can prevent the doctor from being infected by the splashes of blood and body fluid produced during the operation. Finally, the medical protective mask must have the main functions of the surgical mask at the same time, including the bacterial filtration efficiency and the function of blocking the liquid splashes with pressure, as well as the respiratory protection function, that is, to protect the wearer's respiratory safety. Moreover, the particle filtration efficiency of medical protective masks is higher than that of medical surgical masks.

4、 Different use environments:

Disposable medical masks are only suitable for blocking the pollutants exhaled from the operator's mouth and nose during general diagnosis and treatment operations, that is, they are used when there is no invasive operation. Clinical hospital personnel generally wear such masks at work, which can basically meet the needs of ordinary people.

Because of its good waterproof performance and particle filtration efficiency, the medical surgical mask is suitable for wearing during surgery, laser treatment, isolation and dental or other medical operations, as well as air or droplet borne diseases or wearing. It is mainly used by hospital operators.

Because the medical protective mask has good particle filtration efficiency and can effectively filter viruses, it is suitable for occupational protection when medical personnel contact patients with airborne and droplet borne diseases or when they contact infectious microorganisms.

5、 What kind of mask should be selected for the prevention of novel coronavirus pneumonia?

In view of the prevention of the novel coronavirus pneumonia, academician Zhongnanshan explained that it is only necessary to wear a medical surgical mask in daily life, and it is not necessary to wear a medical protective mask. If you are in contact with a patient who has been infected with novel coronavirus pneumonia, you need to wear a medical protective mask, such as N95 mask.
